We don’t want to talk about sad things, but calendar winter is approaching, which means that the weather will get worse and worse, if it has not been cheerful for a long time. And to be honest, it was worth preparing for the mess of rain, snow, mud and puddles back in October – now we have to fight the weather conditions in what we have. So yes, you’re not the only one who forgot to take out your down jacket or warm jacket beforehand, check them for those pesky old stains from last year, and take your outerwear to the dry cleaners.

- If you need to remove splashes from dirty street “mush”, dilute a small amount of shampoo in water and saturate the soft (this is important, because hard fibers can damage) side of the sponge. Rub the stains without strong pressure. This will only clean the outside of the shell without wetting the padding.
- Surely you have noticed that the edges of the hood, cuffs, collar and pockets are quickly covered with a white or gray coating. These problems occur due to the contact of the fabric with the skin and other surfaces (br-r, this handrail in the public transport…) Salt will work well here, which will “pull out” the fat. Just spread it on the “affected” places, wait a few minutes and gently wipe the surface.
- In the period of puddles (even if they are not mistaken), owners of maxi down jackets are particularly acute with the problem of an eternally dirty hem. A solution of water and vinegar will help remove traces of slush (take three times more water for one part vinegar). As you may have guessed, all that remains is to wipe the dusty areas of the outerwear. Voila, the down jacket looks like it just came from the store!
- The same apple cider vinegar and water will help get rid of the unpleasant smell of clothes packed in the closet (the recipe remains the same). Apply the solution with a cloth to the lining of the product and wait until it dries completely. It should work! If there is no vinegar, use a solution of a small amount of water, a few drops of ammonia and common alcohol.
- A mixture of one tablespoon of starch, lemon juice and salt is a proven way to remove a dried stain. The first two ingredients have good solubility and the starch binds everything together. First apply a thick mixture to the contaminated area (be careful with delicate materials such as wool) and then go over with a damp cloth. Don’t thank me!
