The franchise with the scariest horror scene of all time is already getting its 6th (!) movie – with plenty of Marvel power

As has now been announced, the sixth entry in the “Insidious” franchise will be titled “Thread: An Insidious Tale”. It won’t be a sequel to the main series about Renai (Rose Byrne) and Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson), but rather a spinoff. It was created by Jeremy Slater, who was most recently responsible for the Marvel series “Moon Knight”. He will also direct his own script.

On camera, he asks for more Marvel power with Kumail Nanjiani of “Eternals” and “This Is Us” star Mandy Moore. The two play a married couple who use magic to travel back in time to prevent their daughter’s death. But of course there are consequences, very terrible consequences…

“Thread: An Insidious Tale”: The “Insidious” franchise continues to grow

The successful franchise began with James Wan’s “Insidious”, which first thrilled festival audiences in 2010 before hitting theaters in 2011 and becoming a hit there. Costing just $1.5 million, the horror movie grossed over $100 million worldwide and quickly became a horror must-see. In a study where participants were shown horror movies and their heart rate measured, no other title increased the frequency in a single scene as much as “Insidious.” So according to this research, the movie has the scariest horror scene of all time.

Naturally, the success of the first film was soon followed by other titles. The sequel Insidious: Chapter 2 grossed nearly $162 million in 2013 on a $5 million budget, while the prequel Insidious: Chapter 3 grossed nearly $113 million in 2015 on a $10 million budget. Revenues were also very profitable. The content of “Insidious 4: The Last Key”, which was quite disappointing for many fans, even managed to generate sales of almost $ 168 million at the same cost, making it the most successful part of the series to date is.

It is clear that the end is not yet in sight. Before the “Thread: An Insidious Tale” spin-off goes into production and is expected to hit theaters in 2024, the main series will continue in this fashion. Josh and Renai Lambert return for Insidious: The Red Door, with a special focus on their college-age son Dalton (Ty Simpkins), who is now ten years his senior. Because the family’s dark past catches up with him in the new place. Directed by the protagonist Patrick Wilson himself Horror movie “Treacherous: the red dooris scheduled to hit theaters on July 6, 2023.
