The production history of “Futurama” is troubled and full of pitfalls: after “The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening’s series originally ran from 1999 to 2003, it was revived in 2007 and finally canceled in 2013. Even though the last few seasons a bit bumpy, “Futurama” managed to unite its fans till the end and in particular the (previous) series finale “Meanwhile” is one of the highest rated episodes of the animated series to date with a score of 9.4 points on IMDB.
Last year it was already announced that “Futurama” would make a comeback after a 10-year break. Season 11 contains 10 new episodes, which also included all voice actors from the original cast.
From July 24, 2023, we can also accompany the crew of the Planet Express delivery service in Germany on their new space adventures via Disney +. The streaming service publishes a new episode of the eleventh season every week.
Season 11 of “Futurma”: Is insider knowledge required?
By the way, the press release for the launch date promises that longtime fans as well as complete “Futurama” newcomers will get their money’s worth. If you still want to binge all seasons of the series, you currently have the option to do so on Disney +:
For the most part, everything else in the series will remain the same: Frozen and thawed in the year 3000, Phillip J. Fry (Billy West) will continue to try to find his way in the future and break the heart of his colleague, the mighty Cyclopin Leela (Katey Sagal) to conquer. The trio is completed by the anarchist robot Bender (John DiMaggio), Fry’s best friend and roommate, from whom neither wallet nor moral boundaries are safe.
Incidentally, the American streaming service Hulu ordered a total of 20 new episodes. So it’s safe to assume that 10-episode season 11 won’t be the last we’ll see from the likeable Chaos team.
