Harrison Ford: I love Indiana Jones

This Friday in Cannes, Harrison Ford was very excited at the presentation of the movie that says goodbye to Indiana Jones. “I love this character, what he gave me in life,” he said.

Happy about last night’s reception of the film in the official screening in Canneswhere he participates outside the competition – “it was indescribable”, he said – and for the Palme d’Or that the festival awarded him – “it is unusual to see a whole life in an instant” -, the actor entertained and accomplice with his companions from “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny ” (“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”).

At 80 years old and with a successful career, he has no problem with age and answered fun when asked why this is the best time to ditch Indy.

“Isn’t it obvious?” he replied pointing to himself between laughs journalists that they did not leave an empty seat in the press conference room.

And after assuring that he could ride a horse – “if they let me,” he added – and that he was doing it for the film, he added that the reporter described him as ‘sexy’: “I’m very happy to have this Body, thank you what did you give the account”.

AND Harrison Ford apparently satisfied with the film he directed James Mangoldreplacing Steven Spielberg who took care of the previous four, which is a compendium of all things Indiana Jones.

“I wanted it to be a good film, a film that sums everything up four precedents, it would allow anyone to remember that strength of youth, but I wanted the character to live through all the stages of his life,” Ford explained.

41 years have passed since that 1981 year in which it was premiered “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (“The Raiders of the Lost Ark”), the first part of this saga born from the imagination of George Lucas.

This fifth and last one? feature film is the perfect closure the adventures of a popular archaeologist but, although Ford assured that he would be the last, one of his colleagues, Mads Mikkelse, questioned this.

Because what was clearly said at the press conference is that Ford He wants to keep working and “tell stories that are good,” including this Indiana Jones that had good actors and a passionate director. – Everything was in place to support me in my advanced years – joked the actor, star of another of the most popular film sagas, “Star Wars”.

“I was very lucky,” he admitted. Ford, who assured that there are many talented people who never achieve success. “In my case, I had to wait for luck and an opportunity, but during that period I had the opportunity to learn, like a craftsman.”

In his opinion, his main happiness is “working with very talented people”, as well as finding his place “among these geniuses” and not to despair “when he was not up to the task and did not work” as he would have liked.

This new installment of Indiana takes place in 1969, with archaeologist before retiring as a teacher, when his godson Helen Shaw (Sophie Waller-Bridge) suddenly appears and with her reappears a character from the past, Jurgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen).

And it includes a scene from that past in which Ford and Mikkelsen they have been rejuvenated by new technologies which in this case have been put to good use, but for the actor “it’s like a gimmick, it’s not honest from a certain point of view because it’s not real.”

AND technology it made him think about the possibility of being young again. – I wouldn’t want to go back to the way I was before, I’m really happy at the age I am, I don’t look back.

And he joked adding that he is brilliant be young but life is phases. “Now I may not be here and I’m still working. Everything is going well,” he added.

Nor does he feel nostalgia for objects related to him characters, though he keeps one of Indy’s hats. “What counts are lived experiences, objects are not important, what you feel is important.”

Next to him, Mangold, who, according to v Ford“he completely filled the shoes left by Steven Spielberg, he made a beautiful movie for me.”

“Obviously it was a big responsibility because it was huge expectations,” Mangold explained of the moment he was offered to take over the film.

But, he noted, “you can’t live up to the the expectations you raise more than at a certain moment.” And the crew making the film was the best possible, so he accepted the assignment when he realized that he wasn’t there just to replace Spielberg.

And Mangold and Waller-Bridge and Mikkelsen They claimed that they were excited to enter the universe they have known since childhood, and everyone praised the good atmosphere that was created on the set and Harrison Ford’s closeness with everyone.

“I wanted to beIndiana Jones even before I wanted to be an actor,” recalled Mikkelsen, who plays the film’s villain who is, of course, a Nazi.
