With the “Bridgerton” universe based on the books by Julia Quinn and produced by “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes, Netflix has landed a real mega hit. Not only the first two seasons of the main series “Bridgerton” are hugely successful, the spin-off “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” is also churning out strong streaming figures. For the second week in a row, it tops Netflix’s top ten English-language series.
That alone is nothing special. But if you look more closely at the numbers, you can see that “Queen Charlotte” is well on its way to making the charts of all time and becoming one of the most successful English language charts Netflix-to become a series at all. In its second week, Queen Charlotte watched 158.68 million hours, a total of 307 million hours.
A lot of hours will be saved in the next two weeks. And so it seems likely that after 28 days, Bridgerton: Queen Charlotte will be at least the 10th most popular English-language series ever. The “Inventing Anna” series, also mentored by Shonda Rhimes, is currently based there with 511.92 million streamed hours in its first 28 days.
Possible “Bridgerton” hat-trick
And then “Queen Charlotte” would be in good company. Because in these all-time charts, the first season of “Bridgerton” currently ranks 6th (625.49 million hours) and Season 2 even ranks 4th (656.26 million hours). Thus, all three previous seasons of the “Bridgerton” universe would be represented in the all-time top ten – such a success for the still young franchise is already a small sensation. And maybe Season 3 of “Bridgerton” is coming soon…
The songs of “Queen Charlotte” starring India Amerteifio as the young queen and Corey Mylchreest as King George are also so strong because the miniseries only consists of six episodes. This means that the series has to be streamed more often to get the same number of hours as, for example, the seasons “Bridgerton” with its eight episodes or “Inventing Anna” with even nine episodes.
