FSK 18 horror on TV today: even more brutal than the original – and that’s already one of the biggest scandal films of all time

Steven R. Monroe’s “I Spit On Your Grave” was released in 2010. But in Germany, there were immediate problems due to its brutality, which is even more explicit than the original “I spit on your grave”, which has long been on the index in Germany stands and is considered one of the hardest horror shockers of all time. But the remake clearly surpasses that again…

An FSK-approved version of the remake for ages 18 and up was shortened by about 13 (!) minutes. After all, the publication, which according to a legal committee has in any case been declared criminally untouchable, is still missing for about 4 minutes. With so many problems, it’s only natural that “I Spit On Your Grave” hasn’t aired on free TV for a long time…

“I Spit On Your Grave” only had its TV premiere after 11 years

On May 5, 2022, exactly eleven years after the German DVD release, TELE 5 then showed “I Spit On Your Grave” on German Free TV for the first time. It is now running on the same channel again. As of 11:45 PM today, May 17, 2023 Watch “I Spit On Your Grave” on TELE 5. The brutal horror thriller will therefore be available for a month in the TELE 5 media library.

Of course TELE 5 does not suddenly show an uncut version. The station broadcasts “I Spit On Your Grave” in the FSK-18 version. So almost 13 minutes are missing regarding the uncut version, which has never appeared regularly in Germany, but is only available abroad (e.g. Austria). So we strongly advise against it, because only a mutilated torso of the hard shocker remains.

“I Spit On Your Grave”: The remake is also brutal

“I Spit On Your Grave” follows the familiar structure of rape and subsequent revenge, but still only in basic premise of the original’s story.

Young writer Jennifer (Sarah Butler) wants to write her next novel in a lonely cabin in the woods. But four hillbillies attack her to rape her. Jennifer manages to overpower her tormentors and escape. But the local sheriff, to whom she flees, offers her no protection – on the contrary. Jennifer is the victim of a gang rape, but survives the subsequent attempted murder. Now she plans revenge…

In carrying out this revenge plan, the remake is based on the wave of torture porn that was so popular at the time and sometimes caused by “Saw”. Because Jennifer not only kills her tormentors, but constructs traps that she then cruelly tortures them with. Because of this, “I Spit On Your Grave” loses much of the original’s subversive power, we confirm in our FILMSTARTS review.
