There are characters that are almost more famous than the people they play. The cantankerous Steve Urkel from the popular sitcom “All Under One Roof” is clearly one of them. Of course, his actor Jaleel White has many more titles in his filmography – most recently he starred in the Netflix production “Hustle” with Adam Sandler.
But there haven’t been any really big roles so far, especially in a major franchise. And the latter is certainly changing now, because what’s bigger than “Star Wars”? As revealed by Jaleel White himself, he could get a role in the series “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew“get it which is expected to release on Disney+ in 2023. According to White, the series is scheduled to launch “in November or December.”

Rumors of White’s involvement had been circulating the internet for some time, and now the sitcom star opened up in a brief interview on a sports broadcast (via ) – and also immediately revealed his role. When asked about his upcoming projects, the actor confirmed his involvement with Skeleton Crew and said it was a brand new experience for him. He spent two hours every day on makeup because Jaleel White will be playing a pirate in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

In “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”, which is supposed to be an adventure series in the spirit of “The Goonies” or Steven Spielberg movies, but not (only) aimed at children, a group of children get lost in space and experience adventures, where they also encounter a Force user (Jude Law) – most likely a Jedi. This accompanies the young heroes on their way home.
The villains in the series are said to be pirates, as we saw in The Mandalorian. So it’s pretty clear that White’s character will be one of those adversaries. Before “Skeleton Crew” kicks off, however, there’s another “Star Wars” series new to Disney+: in August 2023, look out for “Ahsoka” starring Rosario Dawson – and who knows, maybe Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu, because the series are closely related.
