Your childhood dreams are shattered in theaters this week: “Winnie the Pooh: Blood And Honey” & other movie highlights

While the heroes of classic animated films are still getting a live-action makeover at the Mausehaus studio, today a film adaptation of a popular Disney character begins in German cinemas, which is likely to shatter many a childhood dream for many viewers. This crazy horror reinterpretation of the classic children’s book was made possible by the fact that the classic children’s book “Winnie the Pooh”, on which the cute Disney version was based, has been in the public domain in the US since 2022, i.e. it is a public domain work that accessible to no one is no longer protected by copyright.

“Beau Is Afraid”: A three-hour psychosis

In this three-hour film journey, Joaquin Phoenix must somehow cope with everyday life as a beau plagued by psychosis and delusions – and even getting to the supermarket becomes an absolute challenge.

“Sisu”: gold diggers against Nazis

The record of the action battle “Sisu” is no less insane. Here, lonely prospector Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila) must deal with a horde of Nazis who want to steal his gold in northern Finland in the last days of World War II. But Aatami is a tough dog and knows how to defend himself well.

“Sisu” is an action movie for anyone for whom “John Wick” is still too superficial. In his 4-star review, FILMSTARTS editor-in-chief Christoph Petersen draws the following conclusion:

“In terms of adrenaline levels and heaviness, ‘Sisu’ picks up where most action movies end! Although the opening fight scenes are riddled with ‘No, they don’t really dare!’, they already have vengeance status.”
