Which simple tips according to Tinder can increase the number of matches

Numerous Tinderfails that can be found on the internet demonstrate very clearly: presenting (and behaving) appropriately on a dating app seems to be more difficult than one might think for some contemporaries.

There are men with children in their arms that are not theirs or women in a group of girlfriends, so that it is difficult to say who it is really about. Not to mention engaging in conversations that belong more in the category of being ashamed of others.

How to do it more skillfully and make the dating profile as attractive as possible? No one knows this better than Tinder itself.

The company can see which profiles get the most right swipes and what unites them. We list the tips that can be derived from this.

As mentioned in the beginning, the picture should tell the truth about what your life looks like. A photo of an exciting hobby that you tried exactly once — and that’s only because your best friend pushed you to — suggests something you’re not. In the worst case, you may even intimidate someone who would actually be a much better match.

Of course, this also applies to cute pets and babies that are not yours (In general, the police do not recommend children’s photos on the Internet), obvious filters or old photos that no longer match your current appearance. Such fiddling takes revenge and is a waste of time for both sides.

Too many group shots or odd perspectives that show only parts of a face or body are also confusing. Tinder also advises against taking photos with sunglasses, because most users want to see their eyes.

According to Tinder, the number of photos in the profile is also important. The company reports, “The magic number of photos is actually four”. Don’t upload anything that looks sloppylike selfies from the bathroom, with an empty roll of toilet paper still dangling from the holder in the background…

Tinder co-founder Sean Rad also explained to Britain’s “GQ” that it has been found that any images perceived as narcissistic do not work well on the dating portal. These include: bare-chested at the gym, too many selfies, or professional photos that call for a lavish photo shoot.

Think about what you want to reveal about yourself and what you’re looking for on Tinder – your profile should reflect this in order to find a meaningful match.

According to Tinder, shorter is often better because decisions are made every second and you only have 500 characters available. That’s why the pros recommend emojisfor example, to communicate favorite food, favorite travel destination and the like at a glance.

What is perceived as boring are standard formulations and meaningless character descriptions. ‘I am as I am’ says nothing to a stranger at first, as are the overused terms “spontaneous”, “crazy” or “happy”. It is better to name a specific detail from life that raises questions.

If you still can’t think of anything, Tinder recommends starting a conversation in your profile, in that one there for example, the bio tells “Two lies, one truth”.. “Ideal for your interlocutor to start a chat,” claims Tinder. Something like this: “I once worked as a BVB mascot. I’ve already run a marathon. I don’t like Fürst Pückler ice cream. Which of these is true?”

If that’s too crazy for you, you can also try the musical connection way: According to the company, 40 percent of all Tinder users between the ages of 18 and 25 have their favorite song on their profile – and thus increased the number of matches by ten percent. Music taste does seem to play a role.

That’s fast: According to Tinder, 75 percent of all Gen Z members respond in chat in less than 30 minutes. Nevertheless, there should be enough time to think about the interesting things you could tell the other person.

According to the dating company, humor or riddles seem to work well, ie anything that amuses and puts the other into action (for example, the said two-lie-one-true principle). Emojis and GIFs are also more accepted than you might think, as long as they’re funny and not just plain awkward.

Tinder’s press team also makes it clear: “You can delete a boring ‘Hey’ right away,” because that won’t increase the success rate. What works instead? “Take a good look at your match photos so you can often easily find a really good conversation starter.” It is therefore about genuine interest in the information you already have from the competition.

Which hopefully goes without saying: Harassing complete strangers directly with innuendos is a no-go! That also pays off. Numerous security features have now been installed that block and punish obscene users.
