Do you want to see the movie “Super Mario Bros.” still see on Netflix, then you have to be quick now!

The Super Mario Bros. movie is still unstoppable at the box office around the world. In Germany, more people bought a ticket for the animation fun in the first twelve days than for “Avatar: The Way Of Water”. And that’s not the only record the mustachioed plumber has set: in the US, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” has not only the best opening weekend of an animated film of all time, but also the best second weekend – both titles were previously too seen in the Disney animated film Frozen 2.

But this isn’t the first attempt to bring the adventures of the dungaree-wearing legendary video game hero to the big screen: there’s already been a “Super Mario Bros.” movie starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as the Mario brothers and acting legend Dennis Hopper in 1993 with spiky gel haircut as King Koopa. The film is currently still on Netflix, but you have to be quick because the film is only available until April 30 in the streaming giant’s offer.

While the movie flopped hugely at the box office and is still considered an excellent example of grandiosely botched video game implementations, the garbage grenade can still be lived through on a moody streaming night. Knowing that with “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” there is now an even more successful rendition of the adventures of the popular Nintendo hero, the failed video game movie pickle is doubly fun.

That’s where Super Mario Bros. revolves around.

What a shock: Daisy (Samantha Mathis), the love of shy plumber Luigi (John Leguizamo) has been kidnapped by the evil king Koopa (Dennis Hopper). The craftsman has no choice but to go to the parallel world Dinohattan with his brother Mario (Bob Hoskins) and look for Daisy.

But the pesky King Koopa is clearly pursuing sinister plans, for the pesky ruler wants to use a piece of a meteorite to merge both dimensions – and Daisy, of all people, carries said key piece to his scheme. Suddenly, the Mario brothers must not only free Luigi’s lover from the clutches of the Koopa, but also throw themselves into a fight for the survival of mankind.

These movies will soon disappear from Netflix

Super Mario Bros. isn’t the only movie on the verge of disappearing from Netflix. As so often, the streaming giant removes some films from the program to make room for something new. Just like ‘Super Mario Bros.’ all films are still available on Netflix through April 30, 2023. The only exception to this is the whodunit hit “Knives Out”, which you can stream for an extra day, namely until May 1, 2023.

The boat“ (5 out of 5 stars): In Wolfgang Petersen’s anti-war film masterpiece “Das Boot”, we guide a submarine crew through the turmoil of World War II. The result is a claustrophobic milestone in post-war German film history that has lost none of its appeal today.

Knives Out – Murder is a family affair“ (4.5 out of 5 stars): Ex-Bond Daniel Craig as eccentric private investigator Benoit Blanc investigates the murder of patriarch and crime writer Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) in this fun murder mystery adventure. Note: Unlike the rest of the movies mentioned, you can still stream “Knives Out” until May 1, 2023.

The translator“ (4 out of 5 stars): Sydney Pollack’s thriller “The Interpreter” is political suspense cinema that has once again become uncomfortably relevant, especially given the current world political situation.

battle of the titans“ (3.5 out of 5 stars): “Fast X” director Louis Letterier serves up classic sandal monster cinema with “Clash of the Titans.” Here, “Avatar” star Sam Worthington gets to battle classic monsters from Greek mythology as Perseus.

Madagascar“ (3.5 out of 5 stars): Entertaining animation fun in which a gang of freedom-loving zoo animals dares to break out – the crafty penguins in particular have now enjoyed cult status and not only received a spin-off series, but also their own movie with “The Penguins from Madagascar”.

Constantine“ (3.5 out of 5 stars): John Constantine has returned from hell to protect the world from supernatural dangers. Comedy adaptation starring “John Wick” star Keanu Reeves. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you need to do it now, as the fantasy movie would be getting a sequel after more than 20 years.

Child’s play“ (3 out of 5 stars): Reboot of the popular horror series about the killer doll Chucky, who has been completely overhauled here and is chasing Karen (Aubrey Plaza) and her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) in a new guise.

The heavyweight“ (3 out of 5 stars): “King of Queens” star Kevin James as a mixed martial arts fighter? Surprisingly, this premise works, which is why “The Heavyweight” offers an entertaining mix of classic devotional cinema and surprisingly violent cage fighting, in which the sitcom star cuts a good figure.

My friend the water dragon“ (3 out of 5 stars): Engaging children’s film about the wonderful friendship of a shy boy with an extraordinary creature.
