Project manager Jakob Brodersen said Tuesday that the largest numbers of species are found in large river dams. However, this does not mean that these habitats are particularly valuable for fish diversity. Species common in lakes are found here.
Threatened species such as graylings or nazes, which require larger, connected river habitats with stronger currents, are underrepresented or absent. According to Brodersen, therefore, ways must be sought to better protect the few remaining near-nature habitats of this acutely endangered species.
For the “Progretto Fiumi” project, Eawag scientists hunted 324 spots from the plains to 2200 meters above sea level over the course of five years. Live Broadcasts.
