“Manta, Manta 2” Pre-Theatrical Reveal: These Stars Were Cut From The Movie!

It is “the movie the country has been waiting for for more than 30 years” – at least according to the official cinema poster for “Manta, Manta – Zweiter Teil”. Whether this is actually the case will soon become clear: “Manta, Manta 2” opens in theaters this Thursday (March 30, 2023)!

More than 30 years after the Ruhrpott cult classic “Manta, Manta”, Tina Ruland and Michael Kessler return alongside Til Schweiger, who directed this time himself. So while nothing stands in the way of seeing Bertie, Uschi, and Klaus again, we now know that an actress who just joined the cast isn’t part of the movie after all: Evelyn Burdecki is cut from “Manta, Manta – Zwoter Teil”.

Yes, Schweiger offers a real celebrity show in his movie. While professional PS moderator JP Kraemer’s guest appearance was “unnecessarily extended,” as stated in the FILMSTARTS review of “Manta, Manta 2,” among others, others didn’t even make their way into the film’s final theatrical release. In addition to Evelyn Burdecki, “Popsicle” also became a crowd favorite Zachi Noy cut from the movie.

But above all, Evelyn Burdecki’s absence is now causing a stir. But who is the 34-year-old really? How did she get her role? And why wasn’t it enough for her cinema debut in the end?

For anyone who may not even know the resident of Düsseldorf: Evelyn Burdecki has made a name for herself as a reality TV star in recent years – and she deserves that title meanwhile probably actually. Because she was not only a candidate in numerous formats such as “The Bachelor”, “Grill den Profi” or “Take Me Out”, but also in popular TV shows such as “Celebrity Big Brother”, “I’m a Star – Get get me out of here!” or “Let’s Dance” with the party. Burdecki has been present on TV for nearly a decade and wins the sympathy of the television audience with her snappy jokes and her carefree, honest demeanor. And that strain eventually landed her her role in Manta, Manta 2: How they compared to the recently revealed that she just reached out to Schweiger via Instagram when she got wind of the shooting. “I would like to play a barmaid. And I’ll bring the counter right away!” She immediately let him know – and managed to win over Schweiger.

Though she recently revealed that she had no idea how big her performance in the movie would end up being. However, she was thrilled and grateful for the opportunity alone to be a part of the project. In the end, her great little screen appearance came to nothing. The reason so also experienced: Schweiger had to shorten the film considerably. And Burdecki’s scene was one that ended up falling victim to the scissors. At least in the credits, the reality star found her way into the film, if only in the course of the outtakes, which will then be shown.

Can “Manta, Manta – Second Part” live up to its poster’s promise? You can convince yourself of this from the day after tomorrow. The revival, in which the Ruhrpott charm, which characterizes the original to this day, unfortunately falls far short, could only convince us to a limited extent.
