The best “John Wick” part? The first voices of “John Wick 4” praise brutal action and spectacular combat

Anyone who has already been looking forward to the action sequel “John Wick: Chapter 4” can now raise their expectations. Because the first short opinions about the squatter with Keanu Reeves were allowed to be shared on social media, and the tweeting journalists mainly fall over themselves with praise.

Obviously our usual advice this time: Such initial reactions on social media are often more positive than the actual reviews later reveal. However, a first estimate is still possible, you can mainly see from the reactions where the strengths (and weaknesses) of a film will lie. And that the enthusiasm in the case of “John Wick 4” is therefore reflected in at least good reviews is not at all unlikely – after all, Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski deliver strong action costs from the start. In the FILMSTARTS rating, the “John Wick” movies have 4 stars (Part 1, Part 3) and 3.5 stars (Part 2) out of a possible 5 stars.

Great action – what else?

One aspect of John Wick: Chapter 4 that’s unlikely to disappoint is the action. In fact, no one here has said a bad word about the tough level of the noble clogs in the tweets we’ve seen – and how fantastic the set pieces look.

Steven Weintraub van had to “get his jaw off the floor” because the action sequences are so wacky and innovative. He calls the movie “damn great”and what Keanu Reeves does with a Dragon’s Breath Shotgun, just don’t be prepared.

Ian Sandwell van calls “John Wick 4” “gigantic” – it’s a “smooth, brutal and stylish action epic”, in which Keanu Reeves goes further than ever. The film is long, but the insanely good set pieces more than make up for it. And -Author Courtney Howard calls the actor an “absolutely spectacular high-octane roller coaster ride” and a “pure adrenaline rush”before jumping into another tweet to praise the amazing supporting cast.

Donnie Yen is the absolute scene thief

There are more tweets praising the strong (side) cast – Donnie Yen in particular is mentioned over and over, who according to Hunter Bolding of steal the show from everyone. Bolding also calls “John Wick 4” “the best part of the series with playful ease”.

Also Kirsten Acuna from names Donnie Yen the highlight of the movie, but whose end is likely to split. And Brandon Davis from In addition to Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada and Rina Sawayama also praised as scene thieves: “Each of them has so much style, charisma and talent that it enriches the film as a whole.”

Almost 3 hours running time – a bit too long?

Of course, the epic length of the movie was mentioned several times: “John Wick: Chapter 4” is almost 2 hours and 50 minutes. While most people didn’t mind the run time, some did.

Eric Eisenberg of writes that he had reservations about the running time of nearly three hours, but the film deserves its length: “It’s a smartly paced epic where the action never feels weary.” Also Liz Shannon Miller from don’t mind the length – three hours just made so much sense when you get that crazy. “The third act alone…just great.”

Eammon Jacobs van but is one of those to whom the run time was too long – it dragged on and eventually everything got very chaotic. But he too praises the perfectly executed action and that while the story sucks, at the end of the day you’re just there to watch Keanu Reeves kick it and he does a damn good job.

And last but not least Vanessa Armstrong took out the fourth John Wick part, the best movie she’s seen in years.

If “John Wick: Chapter 4“ has also convinced you, you can get a taste of it in the cinema from March 23, 2023. Here’s the trailer:
