Madonna caused a sensation at last Sunday’s Grammys. However, her performance was less important than her appearance: the face of the 64-year-old singer was barely recognizable due to cosmetic procedures.

She’s not alone, though: Aging in the spotlight seems to be putting a strain on many stars and starlets. But not only aging is combated, in some cases unrealistic ideals of beauty are also imitated. Still others have little to do with syringes and scalpels for beautification and rejuvenation.

40 years ago, the now 67-year-old fashion designer looked very different. Experts in the field of cosmetic surgery suspect that she has undergone all kinds of procedures. Including fillers, botox, laser treatments and various facelifts.

Rodrigo Alves was born in Brazil in 1983. At the age of 17, he underwent his first plastic surgery. She was the result of years of peer bullying. In 2013 he was diagnosed with ‘body dysmorphia’. A mental disorder in which a person obsessively deals with perceived flaws in their body.

Alves underwent over 100 surgeries and became known as the human Ken doll.

Known worldwide as the cat lady, Jocelyn Wildenstein was born in Lausanne in 1940. In 1978, she married Frenchman Alec N. Wildenstein, who reportedly loved wild cats. To please him even more, Jocelyn presumably wanted to look more like a feral cat and went under the knife. She also underwent numerous surgeries after the divorce. The now 82-year-old still maintains that her appearance is absolutely natural.

The ex-wife of rock musician Elvis Presley speaks openly about a botched beauty treatment some 20 years ago. At the time, a doctor allegedly injected her face with low-grade industrial grade silicone, leaving her face disfigured.

Up-to-date photos of the 77-year-old suggest the surgery was not her last.

Former ‘Friends’ star Courtney Cox says she regrets some cosmetic procedures. In an interview with Newbeauty magazine in 2017, she said:
