In addition to Dexter’s backstory, will another extremely popular serial killer from “Dexter” get his own series?

After it was announced that the “Dexter” sequel “New Blood” was canceled after one season despite its success, the “Dexter” universe is likely to be expanded even further. For days it is rumoredthat a prequel series is waiting for us soon, showing us the history of the hit series – and more or less clearly expanding what has already been shown in many flashbacks in “Dexter”: namely how Dexter was initiated in the art of honorable killing and finally declared that this was his purpose in life.

Michael C. Hall would no longer be seen as Dexter in the prequel format, in favor of a new actor who would play the iconic serial killer who only kills those he thinks are truly deserving (i.e. murderers, rapist). A big challenge, as Michael C. Hall delivered a really great performance in the role of Dexter, which also satisfied many viewers, although the majority of them were not exactly satisfied with the later seasons of “Dexter”.

Will the Trinity Killer get its own series?

As they say, you argue loudly the streaming service Paramount+ with Showtime (currently still Paramount+) also currently has another “Dexter” series. This is not about Dexter Morgan, but about one of his most popular and best opponents: the Trinity Killer. This was introduced in the fourth season of Dexter, which is widely regarded as the best of the entire series. John Lithgow, who slipped into the role of the Trinity Killer here, turned in a sympathetic, deeply disturbing performance as a compulsive serial killer that not only earned him an Emmy, but also a Golden Globe.

The Trinity Killer spin-off should be all about the origin story. As we learn in “Dexter”, behind the Trinity Killer, whose real name is Arthur Mitchell, hides a rather tragic personality who sometimes even manages to get Dexter on his side – although Dexter actually wants to eliminate him. In “New Blood”, John Lithgow was seen as the Trinity Killer in some flashbacks.

It remains to be seen if there will actually be a “Dexter” prequel or a Trinity killer series. Nothing is set in stone so far. However, should the formats really lie ahead, “Dexter” fans can expect plenty of blood-stained hours of excitement. In particular, a series about the Trinity Killer could not only be quite gripping, but also extremely complex as a character study. Although the new actor has very big shoes to fill to do justice to Lithgow’s performance.
