While the DC Universe is in a state of turmoil (again) and comic book fans wonder how their beloved screen characters will move on, don’t let a DC superhero spoil his mood and let his being in the first “Shazam! 2” trailer get really broken . There, to the sounds of Eminem’s “Business,” the magical powerhouse not only took on Hollywood’s grande dame Helen Mirren and “Kill Bill” star Lucy Liu, who make life difficult for the superhero as a villain, but also had to fighting junk. around with a kite (!).
Now there is a new trailer for the DC comics spectacle and it also leaves no doubt that the “old” DCEU will say goodbye again with an entertaining action spectacle.
Will “Shazam” be part of the new DCU?
Who comes? Who’s going? Which character is being recast? The situation in the DCU (the unofficial DCEU designation has now been obsolete) has never been more confusing than it is now. Although new DC boss James Gunn in particular takes a lot of time for fans’ questions and regularly answers questions on Twitter, many of his statements also leave a lot of room for interpretation.
But what about “Shazam”? The first adventure about the teenage superhero with magical powers was vastly different from the other blockbusters of the “old” DCEU with its almost comedic approach – it was almost as if Shazam, played by Zachary Levi, had a special place in the DC movie universe.
Finally At the latest after “Black Adam 2” received a (at least provisional) rejection for a second installment, fans are naturally concerned about a continuation of the “Shazam!” series – after all, the anti-hero played by Dwayne Johnson in the comics is one of Shazam’s biggest opponents and is thus indirectly connected to this character.
What does Zachary Levi say about his future?
In an Instagram Live conversation late last year, Zachary Levi also personally commented on this question – and he seemed as ignorant as many fans: “I have no idea what will eventually happen to me. I think I’m in a pretty good position, I think we made a pretty good movie. I hope it will run well – pretty well.”

Ultimately, of course, the success of Shazam! 2: Fury Of The Gods” will be a major factor in determining whether there will be a reunion with the Shazam family. Whether “Shazam! 2” can match the quality of its predecessor, which received a whopping 4 stars in our FILMSTARTS review, can be seen from March 16, 2023, when the comedy blockbuster will also be shown in our cinemas.
