With “White Noise” a movie has made itself comfortable on the internal Netflix charts that certainly won’t please everyone, but once again shows how great and relevant the streaming service can be to today’s movie landscape. Because here directors, here Noah Baumbach, can realize their own vision largely uncompromisingly. In the case of “White Noise” it succeeded – and why the bitterly playful satire was so successful, you can find out in the official FILMSTARTS review.

Netflix has become a new home for Noah Baumbach anyway. Not only did he stage “White Noise” for the big red N, but also “Marriage Story” and “The Meyerowitz Stories”, both of which were almost universally acclaimed by international critics. On the latter, Baumbach also worked with Adam Sandler, who also signed a deal with Netflix and has since delivered a number of films there (most recently Hustle). Now it must come to the next collaboration between the two artists.
Adam Sandler and Brad Pitt side by side?
Because according to rumors (from the ) Adam Sandler stars in Noah Baumbach’s new Netflix movie. But that’s not all, as the rumor includes another extremely high-profile name: Brad Pitt (“Babylon”). That there could be something to the rumor is not only due to Baumbach and Sandler’s Netflix subscription. Sandler recently said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that Baumbach is one of several directors he may be working with again in the near future.
Nor is Brad Pitt a Netflix newcomer, having already taken on the lead role in David Michod’s military satire War Machine. On the surface, it seems pretty believable that the next Noah Baumbach prank will put two real top players in the foreground. Action details or a title are not yet known. In any case, one should look forward to a real highlight if this artistic combination really comes about.
More Adam Sandler Rumors
In the same issue of the podcast, Adam Sandler also mentioned the name of another gentleman he may be working with in the near future: Todd Field. Not only did he deliver two arthouse hits with “Little Children” and “In The Bedroom”, but also a current highlight with “Tár”. The 160-minute film starring Cate Blanchett and Nina Hoss opens in German cinemas on March 2, 2023 and is one of the first cinema highlights of the year for us, as you can see in the FILMSTARTS review.

Todd Field also guested on “Happy Sad Confused” and admitted that a project with Adam Sandler is planned: “We have spoken to each other, but it is still too early to say anything about that.” The celebrated filmmaker did not want to say more about it. However, Field expressed his love for Adam Sandler and concluded his anthem: “I hope we end up working together. I really do.”
