Finally on Netflix: The new episodes of one of the funniest series of the last 10 years – but there are also 2 bad news

In Germany it took a while, but mainly thanks to its availability on Netflix, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” has finally received the attention it deserves in Germany in recent years. Not only in the eyes of the author of these lines, the justifiably celebrated comedy series is one of the most progressive and funniest sitcoms the series landscape has had to offer in recent years. Here, both silly and clever humor meet plenty of heart and an incredibly likable and memorable cast of characters centered around mad cop Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), who is nonetheless passionate about his job.

But now the NYPD’s 99th Precinct’s 99th Precinct’s journey comes to an end: The complete eighth and final season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is available to stream on Netflix starting today, December 30, 2022.

A short pleasure

At the end of the year, fans will be in for a real series treat – and even a little earlier than expected, as local Netflix users often had to wait longer for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” additions. There was a full 15 months between seasons 5 and 6, and then a whopping 13 months between seasons 6 and 7 – though ProSieben stepped in in the meantime, bringing the episodes to free TV before (albeit very unfriendly to audiences during weekday mornings). ).

Netflix is now taking over the German premiere again for season 8 – and ‘only’ almost eleven months after the release of the seventh season. But the joy about it is of course also accompanied by a drop of bitterness, after all we now have to say goodbye to the beloved “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” characters. And if that’s not bad enough, this farewell is over even faster than many would like. With just ten 20-minute episodes, the final season “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” also the shortest.

A worthy conclusion to Brooklyn Nine-Nine

On the other hand, we can of course be happy that the series has achieved eight good seasons, after it was canceled after season 5 by the American broadcaster FOX and then revived by the competing channel NBC. And that the series has lost none of its quality in its new home until the end, at least now ensures that it ends on an absolute climax with a conclusion that is as rounded as it is emotional.

But first, it’s about how Jake and Amy (Melissa Fumero) try to balance their jobs with their new parenthood. Not an easy task, especially for Amy, who, together with Captain Holt (Andre Braugher), who is plagued by relationship problems, also wants to push through with a much-needed police reform.
