Distances from place to place in Switzerland are never too great. Wherever you live in our country, you are less than three hours away from the mountains. You can often see them on the horizon. It’s a chance that not everyone in the world’s metropolises has. Try taking the train in Hamburg, London or Washington and getting off after three hours in the middle of a major ski area!

Even Valais is not that far from Zurich. The train leaves every 30 minutes in the direction of Valais, even directly to Visp, every hour. Twelve minutes after arrival, the Postbus departs and heads south across the Saas Valley towards Saas-Fee. Total duration of the trip: almost exactly three hours – just two hours from Bern – until you arrive at one of the largest ski areas in the Swiss Alps.

Because: You don’t necessarily have to ski to have a good time at a winter sports centre. You can enjoy a drink and have a good time with your friends at the legendary after-ski bars in Saas-Fee.

It makes appetite after altitude and skiing. The Saas-Fee/Saastal area has over 100 restaurants serving delicious cuisine, from traditional Valais specialties to international gourmet cuisine. Of course there are classics like Valais Plättli or fondue. Local gastronomy offers both unusual and home-style cuisine.

Want a meal at dizzying heights? The Valais resort offers cheese and excitement fans a fondue on the gondola. At the stop, fondue, wine and tea will be served in a magnificent four thousand fondue. The journey takes about an hour and offers the opportunity to admire the mountain scenery and the beautifully lit village of Saas-Fee at dusk.
