Daniel Craig was last seen as James Bond in the cinema last year. The 54-year-old said goodbye to 007 in September 2021 with “No time to die”. It has been speculated for a long time, but now there should be a favorite too – and his name is Aaron Taylor-Johnson. At least that’s what the “Sun” claims.
Accordingly, the 32-year-old mime would have convinced in a secret test and especially impressed Bond producer Barbara Broccoli during the audition at Pinewood Studios. “Aaron did a screen test to become the next Bond in September and the producers and Barbara loved him,” the British newspaper quoted an unnamed source as saying: “He’s now one of the front runners.” However, this has not yet been confirmed.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson celebrated his breakthrough in 2009 with the John Lennon biopic “Nowhere Boy”. Three years later, he married the film’s director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, 23 years his senior. However, in the battle for the Bond role, the actor would have known competition. Rumor has it that Tom Hardy, James Norton and Idris Elba are or were in the running. Henry Cavill and Regé Jean-Page are also mentioned time and time again when it comes to who could play 007 in the upcoming Bond movies.
Most recently, at an event marking the 60th anniversary of the first 007 film, Bond producer Michael G. Wilson ruled out a young actor taking on the iconic role, according to media reports. He ended speculation that the next 007 movie could tell the story of James Bond’s development. Wilson’s colleague Barbara Broccoli had previously announced that she wanted to reinvent the agent. Filming for the new 007 probably won’t start for another two years. Michael G. Wilson made it clear once again that concrete pouring had not yet begun.
