Brilliant update of “The Witcher” season 3 on Netflix: more action like the Blaviken massacre is guaranteed

The action in season 1 of the Netflix fantasy hit The Witcher was centered around one man: fight choreographer and stunt coordinator Wolfgang Stegemann. We have him to thank for the great Blaviken action scene, and The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich explained that Stegemann’s work has changed the way she writes and thinks about stunt scenes.

That influence was felt again in Season 2, when Stegemann’s colleague Adam Horton choreographed Geralt’s (Henry Cavill) fight against the Michelet brothers in a way very reminiscent of the Blaviken massacre. Now Wolfgang Stegemann is back for season 3 of “The Witcher” – and not just for individual scenes, but for the entire season.

“Lots of Action” in Season 3

Geralt Actor Henry Cavill Confirmed This To Josh Horowitz On The Podcast . “I worked with Wolfgang Stegemann again. […] We’ve been together all season and working with Wolfie is great. He’s such an exceptional stunt coordinator, a very good friend, so talented.”

Here’s a re-watch of the Blaviken scene, commented on and guided by Henry Cavill himself:

So after Stegemann wasn’t involved in Season 2, but his involvement in Season 1 was such a defining part of the show’s overall action, we can look forward to more Blaviken-style fight choreography in Season 3 – and lots of it. Because Henry Cavill explained in the podcast:

There’s a lot of action in Season 3. We did an awful lot there. Sometimes it was just boredom and labor and a few miracles to perform, but we got it done and we hope you enjoy our work because Wolfie really is the best.”

Unfortunately, it won’t be long before we get to see the work of Henry and “Wolfie” – because season 3 of “The Witcher” isn’t coming out this winter. The fantasy series based on the “Witcher” books by Andrzej Sapkowski has a new slot on Netflix. Instead of December, as before, the new episodes will now come in the summer of 2023.

This December, there’s still “The Witcher” addition to Netflix: Because with “The Witcher: Blood Origin” a four-part prequel series will appear on December 25, 2022.
