Princess Kate’s health has been a mystery for weeks after she underwent abdominal surgery in January. The palace held back on details and speculation increased. A photo error a few days ago did the rest: a new photo of Kate with her three children appeared on social media, which was manipulated. The 42-year-old took personal responsibility for it the next day.

Kate and the royal family were ridiculed on social media over the Photoshop glitch, but now the situation is appearing in a new light for many. Blake Lively also joked about the doctored image. The “Gossip Girl” actress was insightful on her Instagram Story on Friday.

A few days ago, Blake Lively shared a pool photo of himself on Instagram, which was of course also manipulated. For example, a chair looked strangely wonky and the actress’ thumbs appeared to be enlarged. And a drink can depicted did not really fit into the picture.

“I’m so excited to share this new photo I took today to announce our four new products,” the post’s description read. Blake Lively promoted “homemade sparkling drinks made with real ingredients” in her post. It was quickly linked to the royal family’s PR disaster and the actress was immediately criticized.

Blake Lively said Friday she was remorseful. “I’m sure no one cares today, but I feel like I have to admit it.”, she began, referring to her Kate parody. She further explained:

“I’m sorry,” the 36-year-old assured afterwards. She has since deleted the message in question. Although liked hundreds of thousands of times, Lively also faced headwinds. She was criticized in the comments for “making fun of a woman recovering from surgery.”

There are now well wishes for Kate from all sides after she made her diagnosis public. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Friday: “She has shown enormous courage with her announcement today,” he said. He also condemned the conspiracy stories surrounding Kate in recent weeks.

King Charles said he was “so proud of Catherine for her courage to speak like that.” And California’s Harry and Meghan also issued a statement: “We wish Kate and her family health and healing and hope they can do this privately and in peace.”
