Stream tonight: a zombie cinema hit with lots of car action

Don’t know what to watch tonight? Then we have a streaming tip for you. “Peninsula” is a Korean zombie hit that really packs a punch. On Amazon Prime Video, “Peninsula” is not only available as VoD. If you subscribe to the ProSieben Fun Channel, you can even stream our action tip at no extra cost. Because as an Amazon Prime customer you can test the channel for free for seven days, this is a very easy way to watch the film.

Alternatively, the streaming service Joyn+ also has a subscription to the zombie spectacle. It’s a good way to watch the movie if you’re not on Amazon Prime. Because you can also test Joyn+ for free (and then cancel immediately after the film).

The events in ‘Peninsula’ take place no less than four years after the events in the predecessor ‘Train To Busan’. The zombie epidemic that started then has now gripped the entire South Korean peninsula. The country is under quarantine, and those who managed to escape abroad usually live a worthless life there because no one wants the refugees from Korea.

Ex-soldier Jung Seok (Dong-Won Gang) also has a very bleak existence in Hong Kong – until he receives a tempting assignment. He is supposed to return to zombie-infested Seoul to retrieve a truck containing $20 million in cash. But in the old homeland, the zombies are still the smallest problem, because the mercenary unit Unit 361, which controls the area, is also hunting him. He gets unexpected help from teenager Jooni (Re Lee), who, together with her sister Yu-jin (Ye-Won Lee), has found a way to survive the zombie chaos… while driving cars over the undead.

The fact that a teenager drives her car over rows of zombies takes away much of the threatening potential of the undead in “Train To Busan,” which were so terrifying in the sequel. The mercenaries of Unit 361, with whom the central trio conducts several chases, must now make up for this.

The sequel is significantly less interesting than its first-rate predecessor, but With the badass heroine and plenty of car action, it’s still solid and, above all, entertaining fun. In the official FILMSTARTS review, editor-in-chief Christoph Petersen gives it a big 3 stars!
