MCU instead of Superman: Henry Cavill likely has a Marvel role, but not as a cult villain desired by fans

There was quite a bit of back and forth over whether Henry Cavill would play Superman again. After an unsurprising cameo in “Black Adam,” the upcoming comeback was announced before everything was canceled again as it now continues with a completely new incarnation in “Superman: Legacy.” For Henry Cavill, DC is over for now. Will this continue at Marvel?

At least that’s what The Scooper, specialized in Marvel insider information, reports . He now revealed Himself that Henry Cavill was offered a Marvel role and the star has already accepted it. The scooper did not reveal which part it was. Only one character was excluded.

Henry Cavill is not (!) Doctor Doom

Since the casting announcement for “The Fantastic Four” last week, fans have been speculating even more wildly about who should play their great adversary Doctor Doom. It’s important casting, as it’s believed Doom won’t just appear in a movie, but will become the defining MCU villain for a while – a new Thanos, so to speak.

The name Henry Cavill is mentioned again and again. But according to the scooper, that’s not possible because Cavill already has the mysterious other role.

Maybe Captain Britain?

Now we can speculate a lot about what role Cavill could play. In 2021, the actor himself announced a desired role. Cavill revealed at the time that he would like to play Captain Britain – in a modernized, updated version of the figure.

The name Captain Britain is – as is often the case – borne by various characters in the Marvel comics, but originally and mainly Captain Britain is a young scientist named Brian Braddock, who was fatally injured in an attack and given the choice between the sword by the magician Merlin of power and the amulet of justice. Braddock chooses the amulet and from now on fights evil as Captain Britain.

In a sense, he is one of the agents of Merlin and his daughter Roma, who watch over an extradimensional realm called Otherworld and have collected countless heroes and heroines across the multiverse in the so-called Captain Britain Corps. Thanks to his costume, Captain Britain has superpowers derived from Otherworld, can fly, and originally wielded a quarterstaff.

Including Captain Britain in the MCU would certainly make sense. Merlin’s existence has already been revealed in ‘Eternals’ and a character has been added, Dane Whitman aka Black Knight (Kit Harington), who is also connected to this mystical part of the MCU. There have also been rumors for a while that some sort of British version of the Avengers will soon appear in the MCU under the leadership of Sonya Falsworth (Olivia Colman). Captain Britain would actually be indispensable for this.

But what’s important is: There is still no confirmation that Henry Cavill is actually part of the MCU. Therefore, the report can currently be classified as a rumor. Whether or not he will actually play Captain Britain is pure speculation on our part at this point.
