Jaguar was early with its electric SUV and hoped for a resounding success. Named Car of the Year five years ago, the I-Pace looks good but quickly fell out of favor.

Jaguar I-Pace controversy

There was controversy in the Netherlands from the start. Jaguar drivers complained on TV that the I-Pace’s range was very disappointing. A quick Google search could have told them that, but they clearly had no interest in anything other than a low additional tax.

The Jaguar I-Pace went from 3,526 sales in 2018 to just 770 in 2019, 466 in 2020 and 18 in 2021. The absolute low point came a year later, when just eight people ordered one.

King Charles III

A used Jaguar I-Pace starts at 23,000 euros, but costs more than 80,000 euros. How is that possible? It once belonged to a famous person: King Charles III.

The “Jaaaggg” was the British royal family’s first electric car. Originally it was gray, but at Charles’ request it was repainted dark blue. This is the only I-Pace in Loire Blue.

Elizabeth and Meghan Markle

Not only King Charles rode in it, his mother, Queen Elizabeth, and Meghan Markle also sat in the back. The SUV was returned to Jaguar at the end of 2021.

Second owner 50,000 km

At this point he only had 4,800 kilometers on the clock and was subsequently stripped of the blue lights he wore in royal service. A second owner then added another 50,000 kilometers.
