Switzerland has the best army chiefs in the world: gold at the Culinary Olympics

We may not have the best military in the world, but when it comes to culinary delights, no one can beat the Swiss.

The Swiss Armed Forces Culinary Team (SACT) took first place in the community catering category at the Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart. The six army chiefs defeated twenty other teams and were also named the best military team.

The international jury awarded the national cooking team of the Swiss army a score of more than 90 points, equivalent to a gold medal, according to a statement from the federal government on Thursday. The culinary team of the Swiss Armed Forces reports to the catering training center in Thun.

The Culinary Olympic Games in Stuttgart (IKA – Culinary Olympic Games) are the largest culinary art exhibition in the world. It is carried out every four years. A menu was prepared for 120 people consisting of three appetizer dishes, a starter, two different main courses with an emphasis on vegetables and a mini dessert.

This honorary report should be a balm for the troubled soul of army leader Thomas Süssli, says swissinfo.org, referring to “the acute shortage of liquid assets” in the Swiss army.
