Surprise returnee confirms: ‘Young Sheldon’ finale could now tie into ‘The Big Bang Theory’.

After fans of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ had to deal with the grand finale of the hit sitcom in 2019, the spin-off ‘Young Sheldon’ is now coming to an end. The seventh and final season of the comedy series will premiere in February 2024 and offer us 14 new episodes, ending in May with a one-hour series finale on the American broadcaster CBS.

While ‘Young Sheldon’ takes on the backstory of scientist Sheldon Cooper and whose young version was embodied by Ian Armitage, the series draws a line from the original with Jim Parsons on many levels, offering Easter eggs and background on storylines and stories surrounding it’s series icon. It’s not unlikely, then, that the final season may pick up a few details that haven’t been told before. The return of a certain character in season 7 could also be important for Sheldon’s development.

Billy Sparks returns for season 7 of Young Sheldon

Because Sheldon’s neighbor Billy Sparks (Wyatt McClure) also appears in season 7, who previously had a recurring, albeit not particularly important, role in the spin-off series. The last time Billy appeared was when Sheldon’s father was having an affair with Billy’s mother. Although the storyline was resolved and not mentioned again at the end of season six, many fans assumed we wouldn’t see Billy himself again either.

On However, Wyatt McClure has now shared a photo from the ‘Young Sheldon’ set that confirms his return to the sitcom. In fact, this could close some loop for ‘The Big Bang Theory’, Because Sheldon talks about his former neighbor Billy Sparks several times and calls him his biggest childhood bully. However, Billy’s behavior in “Young Sheldon” so far does not match these stories. It could very well be that Billy would target Sheldon in the new episodes.
