The first dedicated U.S. mission to the Moon began Monday morning.

The rocket is of the “Vulcan Centaur” type with the “Peregrine” lander of the manufacturer ULA. The capsule belonging to the Pittsburgh company Astrobiotic is expected to land in the area called Sinus Viscositatis (Gulf of Stickiness).

In April 2023, a Japanese company failed a similar mission. Ispace company explained the reason for the incorrect altitude calculation of the lander during the landing attempt.

With “Peregrine Mission 1,” private individuals were able to purchase space to transport supplies to the moon. The lander is 1.9 meters high and 2.5 meters in diameter. The US space agency Nasa also wants to prepare its own expeditions to the moon with various devices during the journey.
