I have to admit, I’m one of those cool people who always looks forward to Christmas. This year the Christ Child beautifully decorated the tree a week before Christmas Eve. Yes, I still offer every child the heartfelt deception of the child Jesus. Thanks to electric lighting, our Christmas tree has been illuminated every evening since then. On Christmas Eve, gifts lay under the tree illuminated by warm light. How beautiful. The children’s eyes lit up and my heart opened again. Yes, I can be romantic and cheesy.
Not with me
But at some point it all ended. More precisely: After New Year’s Eve, I was fed up. At new year, I find pine needles scattered all over the house on the living room floor, which is frustrating and not at all exciting – and I’m actually dreading the hassle of having to put all the Christmas decorations away again.
I don’t care that the Christmas season doesn’t end until January 6th, according to Christian tradition, and that the decorated tree will decorate the living room all the way back to the Three Wise Men. Not with me!
return to normality
I want there to be order and normality at home again when I have to return to work at the latest. This does not include a Christmas tree that dries unnoticed. So I consider it an act of mercy to save the once beautiful Christmas tree from this humiliating tragedy, and I paid the price for it yesterday. I have fond memories of him.
I cut some usable pine branches and used them to cover the plants in the garden. The rest is thrown into green manure. Yes, I can also be very practical and pragmatic.
