“Gladiator” stops at 21 minutes and 57 seconds: is a time traveler lost in ancient Rome?!

‘Gladiator’ is probably one of the last great monumental films that Hollywood produced: the epic revenge story set in ancient Rome, which made back its budget of approximately $ 103 million almost five times, won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Lead Actor Russell Crowe – and of course the colossal historical film was nominated in virtually every technical category there is.

But the fact that Ridley Scott (who is bringing his next historical epic ‘Napoleon’ to cinemas in November) has made a huge effort to not only make the film incredibly exciting, but also to revive the Roman imperial era as realistically as possible , does not mean that He did not make mistakes – on the contrary.

Especially in gigantic productions like ‘Gladiator’, which contain gigantic sets and countless extras, a few details sometimes slip through: Of course, someone should have noticed that in the unforgettable Colosseum scene not only a technician’s sneakers can be seen, but also a gas cylinder – which obviously did not exist in 180 AD.

Aside from a few historical inaccuracies, which are more than bearable, there is at least one other major flaw in “Gladiator.” – which you can discover after 21 minutes and 57 seconds. When Maximus feeds his horse an apple, a person in jeans can suddenly be spotted behind the horse – which was only invented some 1693 years later! A time traveler? Or maybe a crew member who thought he wasn’t in the photo?

Ridley Scott is currently working on a belated sequel to ‘Gladiator’, which will be set 25 years after the original film and star Paul Mescal, including Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal. Filming is currently on hold due to the strike, but a theatrical release is scheduled for the end of November 2024.
