M. Night Shyamalan is best known for always ending his films with a big twist. While “The Sixth Sense” with Bruce Willis received critical acclaim not only for its clever final twist, Shyamalan subsequently came under increasing criticism for constantly having to impose a surprising punch line in his stories – this even (also) led to Shyamalan’s career was about to end.
The Indian filmmaker has now fought his way back and is busy making films again. After the apocalyptic thriller ‘Knoch At The Cabin’ hit German cinemas this year, Shyamalan is currently working on his latest joke, which will be called ‘Trap’. Although details about the content are still being kept under wraps, it has now been announced who will play the male lead.
There is an “Oppenheimer” star on board
This is Josh Hartnett, who we recently saw alongside Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh in ‘Oppenheimer’. Moreover, the actor enjoyed great popularity in the early 2000s, appearing in films such as ’40 Days, 40 Nights’, ‘Pearl Harbor’, ‘Sin City’ and ‘Lucky Number Slevin’. He will be joined by Saleka Shyamalan, the daughter of M. Night Shyamalan. She has already made a name for herself as a singer and is now making her feature film debut in ‘Trap’.

M. Night Shyamalan
Rolando Davila Beltran
Starting date
August 1, 2024
Saleka Shyamalan would play a pop star in “Trap,” whose concert is the focus of the action. Hartnett, on the other hand, portrays a father who accompanies his child to a concert and is unwittingly drawn into the events around him. It is not yet clear which events are involved. But you can bet that viewers can expect a big twist in the case of “Trap.”
The fact that shooting for ‘Trap’ started this month is because Shyamalan usually produces and finances his films himself. This allowed him to sign an interim contract with which he can now tackle the project despite the strike in Hollywood. It is still unclear when the film will be released in cinemas. But you can assume that ‘Trap’ will reach us next year, that is, in 2025.
