A Halloween parade for dogs took place in New York – and the photos don’t disappoint

Hundreds of dogs in New York have already ‘pre-celebrated’ Halloween, dressing up as Barbie, potted plants, guitarists or UPS employees. Although it was probably their owners who really enjoyed it (besides the photographers of course). During the 33rd “Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade,” participants in the annual competition put their costume skills to the test in Manhattan’s East Village on Saturday.

Organizers say 15,000 people and scores of dogs dressed in costume attended the spectacle, which took place about a week before Halloween (October 31). In the end, “Pookah” was chosen as the winner – a Pomeranian dressed as “Pookah the Bear”, with a red sweater and a honey pot.

But actually, it’s not the disguise, but rather the dog’s facial expression that makes the photos a highlight.
