Cannibalism has always been a theme in horror genre films, but more recently in mainstream films and series we’ve also seen people being eaten, whether by murderous zombies like The Walking Dead, or by gastronomic cannibals like Hannibal, or by hungry lovers like in ‘ Bones And All’. or from psychopathic Tinder dates like in “Fresh” on Disney+.
But why are cannibalism stories so popular in films and series at the moment, why do they appeal to the public? Horror author Stephen King has a theory about this, which he gave in an interview with the stated: “I think it’s one of the last taboos.”

Stephen King released his latest novel, Holly, on September 5, 2023. Anyone who knows the horror pope’s books should already know who it is from the title: Holly Gibney from the ‘Mr. Mercedes” series from the detective agency taken over by her late friend Bill Hodge.
“Holly” can already be pre-ordered in Germany
In the German translation “Holly” will be released on September 20, 2023. However, the audiobook will be available a little earlier, at least on Audible, where September 18 is the release date. The novel is now available for pre-order:
Nothing is currently known about a film adaptation of ‘Holly’. In the summer of 2023, the latest Stephen King film adaptation to date appeared in cinemas: “The Boogeyman”. Probably the biggest focus of King fans right now is on the planned series adaptation of the fantasy saga “The Dark Towerlay. “Haunted Hill House” creator Mike Flanagan has taken on the project and the script for the pilot episode has already been written.
