In the United States, the final of the first offshoot of the new “Walking Dead” spin-off offensive, based on various fan favorites from the zombie series that ended in 2022, is already coming up. This is now being used to further fuel anticipation for the next offshoot, as after “The Walking Dead: Dead City” is before “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon”.
And so, after several mini-teasers and a longer clip, the first proper trailer of the spin-off about the eponymous survivor (Norman Reedus) has now been released – and despite the well-known main character and the zombie threat, it promises a lot of fresh air for the steadily growing horror franchise…
“The Walking Dead” in France
“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” takes us to a completely different location and shows us that the zombie plague has also hit Europe. Daryl is involuntarily stranded in France and must figure out how and why he ended up there – and especially how to get back home. At first he roams the country on his own – including picturesque landscape shots that we know less from ‘The Walking Dead’.
But of course he soon meets other survivors (played by “Harry Potter” star Clémence Poésy, among others) – and may also learn more about the origins of the undead pandemic, which apparently started in France, as the post-credits scene of the spin-off “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” indicates.
With or without Charles?
But what about Daryl’s old co-worker and close friend Carol (Melissa McBride)? When the new spin-off was announced, it was initially said that both characters will be central to the series. Some time later, however, Melissa McBride’s departure was announced, as the Carol actress was probably unable to shoot in Europe for a long time for logistical reasons.
It was even more of a surprise when McBride was recently spotted alongside Norman Reedus while filming Daryl Dixon in France. So it looks like Carol might drop by for at least a little gig. However, it is also rumored that the sequence filmed with her is already a scene for a possible second season, which has not yet been officially announced.
When is “Daryl Dixon” coming to Germany?
In the US, “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” begins September 10, 2023 and not even two months after the end of the first “Dead City” season. In this country, however, we have to be patient for a few more months. In October, “The Walking Dead: Dead City” celebrates its German premiere on Magenta TV.
“Daryl Dixon” should appear on streaming service Telekom at the end of this year, there is no exact date yet. The latter also applies to Rick Grimes’ long-awaited comeback in the mini-series “The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne,” which will be announced for 2024 (and will also air on Magenta TV).
