An era at the Italian sports car manufacturer has come to an end: Lamborghini produced sports cars with pure combustion engines for 60 years. That’s over now. The order books for such models have been definitively closed, Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann of the “world” confirmed. Latecomers will no longer be accepted.

The next few months will be used to build and deliver the remaining combustion models, the Huracan and the SUV Urus. After all, the company has to keep up with the times and also pay attention to the CO2 balance: the huge engines simply emit too many pollutants.

But if you can’t do without the sound of twelve-cylinder engines, you will also get value for money in the future: Lamborghini will then produce electrified models, ie with combustion engines and an additional electric drive. These include the Aventador successor Revuelto, which targets customers with a V12 unit, plug-in hybrid and 1,015 hp, or the Urus with a hybrid drive. It should be on the market at the end of 2024 and will probably have around 800 hp. The successor to the Huracan is also expected in the same year.

It will be some time before Lamborghini builds purely electric models: by the end of the decade, the second generation of the Urus is planned, which will then only run on battery power. There may be another Stromer on the market a year earlier: Lamborghini is rumored to be working on a 2+2-seater in the format of a Grand Tourer (GT) – a completely new body style that the brand has not yet incorporated into its product range .

It is said to have less good terrain characteristics than the Urus, but is still slightly higher. With its electric drive, the newcomer could certainly beat the sprint values of its hybrid brothers. This Lamborghini will then no longer make the typical engine noises.
