“You should fucking pay me for it”: this is how irritated Russell Crowe responds to questions about “Gladiator 2”

“Gladiator” from the year 2000 has become a true classic of Hollywood cinema. With the historical epic, Ridley Scott (“Blade Runner”) has impressively brought the sandal movie back into the present day by telling a powerful, utterly gripping and last but not least immensely moving story of love, revenge and determination. Now, more than 20 years later, “Gladiator 2” is a sequel.

Paul Mescal (“Aftersun”) will star as familiar faces from the first installment, Connie Nielsen (as Lucilla) and Djimon Hounsou (as Juba), return to the camera. Russell Crowe won’t be back, though – after Gladiator’s end, that shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. Still, the actor is constantly being asked questions about Gladiator 2. And now he’s tired of it, he explained to a journalist at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival (via )…

“I do not know anything”

“You should fucking pay me for all the questions I get about a movie I’m not even in.” Crowe told the press (via ). “The movie has nothing to do with me. In this world I’m dead, six feet underground. But I admit I’m a little jealous because it reminds me of my childhood and what that first movie meant to my life .”

Russell Crowe has already mentioned the jealousy thing in a previous interview revealed. Further, it is not surprising that the actor is quite tired of being asked to star in a movie that he has absolutely nothing to do with. Crowe also added in the interview: “I don’t know about the cast, I don’t know about the plot. I’m dead! But I know if Ridley decided to do a second part, he must have had very good reasons.”

“Gladiator 2” is scheduled to begin in cinemas in Germany on November 21, 2024. In addition to Paul Mescal, Connie Nielsen and Djimon Hounsou, the ensemble includes Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, May Calamawy, Joseph Quinn and Fred Hechinger.
