This sci-fi movie starring Pedro Pascal is now one of Netflix’s biggest hits of all time – and it’s getting a sequel!

Netflix recently changed the measurement of how its leaderboards are created. The decisive factor here is no longer the viewing hours of a film or series in a period of 28 days after release, but the views within 91 days. However, these new “views” don’t really say how many people have seen a title in its entirety, but are just a construct calculated by dividing the hours in question by the length of a movie or series season.

This is hoped for a fairer comparison between content that differs greatly in length. And the impact of this new measurement system is immediately visible in Netflix’s top 10 lists of all time. While there are still many well-known ones (which have changed places from time to time, as in the case of the fourth season of “Stranger Things” and the new series lead “Wednesday”), some titles are now completely new to the standings, including the surprising sci-fi family adventure We Can Be Heroes by Robert Rodriguez.

“We Can Be Heroes” beats “Extraction”

The top 10 most successful English-language Netflix films of all time is also dominated in the new measurement by the Dwayne Johnson actor “Red Notice”, but a lot has happened in the second half of the list in particular. The said 2020 “We Can Be Heroes” is now the new 6th place and could hit hits like “Glass Onion: A Mystery of the Blades‘and the first’extractionpush.

While the two films (like the other places) have more viewing hours, “We Can Be Heroes” benefits from the manageable running time of about 100 minutes, of which there are 137.3 million views, just over 136.3 and 135 .7 million views of “Glass Onion” and “Extraction”.

This is We Can Be Heroes

Some people may not like the title, but the core audience is also younger, despite prominent personnel in front and behind the camera. Than We Can Be Heroes is a colorful superhero movie for kids (which many parents may have seen with their kids too young for the MCU), with the “Sin City” and “From Dusk Till Dawn” director Robert Rodriguez loosely based on his family drama “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.” who appear here as adults and now have children of their own.

Supporting cast includes Pedro Pascal (“The Last Of Us”), Boyd Holbrook (“Indiana Jones 5”), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (“Citadel”), Christian Slater (“Mr. Robot”), and Sung Kang (“Fast & Furious” series) with a top class cast. Most of them play powerful superheroes who are abducted by aliens one day. So it’s finally up to their kids to form a new team and save not only their parents, but all of humanity.

Incidentally, the streaming service made it clear early on that the film was a success for Netflix. Shortly after its release, Netflix announced a sequel that will again be directed by Robert Rodriguez. However, it is still unclear when it will appear.
