They will invest 3.3 million dollars in the A Better Stallion program

Program Better stallion pThis year, Revé delivered 1,200 milk and meat bulls to small Panamanian producers, after President Laurentin Cortiz’s investment approval, for $3.3 million.

This project is implemented by the National Administration for Livestock Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA)with the aim of contributing to the improvement of the national herd.

The bulls are delivered to small farmers during the community service tours that Cortizo and his cabinet conduct every week, in different parts of the country.

In accordance with Avelino Urenanational livestock director of MIDA, all small producers can apply to the nearest agency of this ministry.

“He must be a small producer, have cows, a farm registered with MIDA and his farm must be cleared by animal health programs,” the veterinarian explained to the state channel.

Ureña emphasized that the bulls have a value of 2,500 dollars, of which the state provides 1,900 dollars, and the small producer 600 dollars.

The program delivers about 900 bulls annually. Each animal has the capacity to cover 25 to 30 cows. The average pregnancy rate in Panama is 50%, which means that there would be around 14,000 births per year.

On the other hand, Cortizo announced that this year, as part of the David International Fair, Panama will host the sixtieth livestock exhibition of the Central American Isthmus, the EXPICA fair.

“We warmly welcome the EXPICA exhibitors from Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama, who are bringing their best specimens to the fair, as a sample of the excellent genetic quality of the cattle we breed in the region,” said Cortizo.

Panamanian breeders will exhibit their horses, showing the progress that has national animal husbandry in the quality of its products.
