The team from Veraguas defeated its counterpart team from Coclé 2-1 yesterday to win the final series of the Little League National Championship and, along the way, earned a ticket to appear in the World Cup in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, which will be held between the 16th and 27th August this year.
Veraguas took the series to a best-of-3 game, in games held at Tijeras Stadium in Boquerón, Chiriquí, the venue of the tournament.
Yesterday, Veraguas opened the scoring early, in the same first inning when Ian Corrales hit a double to score both runs for his team, enough for the win.
The Coclesans scored their only run in the sixth inning, threatening to tie the game, but it wasn’t enough.
Yesterday, in the third game, Veraguas scored 2 runs, had 3 hits and committed an error, while Coclé scored a run, had 5 hits and pitched an errorless game.
In the final series, Coclé won the first game with a score of 7-2.
Then Veraguas won 5-3 in the second match, to tie the series at 1-1, yesterday they won again 2-1 and won the final series of the minor league tournament.
