Constructions remain without material due to closure

The construction industry is also suffering the consequences of street closures that have already lasted for more than twenty days.

Carlos Allen, President Panama Chamber of Construction (Capac), He warned that although workers are coming to work, many projects are running out of materials.

“We are in a situation where we cannot bring supplies and materials to the works. In most projects, workers have run out of materials to be able to work,” said Alen.

The engineer explained that a large part of the workers respected the work schedule, and those who did not were not recognized for hours.

Alen also pointed out that employers had to pay wages to workers even though they had no materials.

On the other hand, Alen said that he does not understand what Suntracs is doing andon the streets asking for political measureswhen the peaceful marches proved to be effective.

“We invite Suntrace to wait for the elections in May and choose at the polls. It must work now,” he commented.

The executive added that as a result of the closure, there is discomfort among the population, who are affected by the loss of appointments and supplies.

He emphasized that if a the worker decides not to go to work To close the street, the company does not have to pay you.

For this Monday, various unions have called for a complete shutdown across the country.
