THE PANAMA MAJORS

A new version of the Berlin Marathon has arrived, Germany, which will take place this Sunday, September 24, and which is part of six Majors in the world. Find out who the Panamanians ruled them.

In addition to Berlin, there are New York, Chicago, London, Tokyo and Boston, and the list of “Panamanian Majors” is headed by married couple Frank Castillo and Yoira Rodríguez, who are also coaches of the Expres Runners team.

“For me, a difficult or strenuous route is the New York Marathon, crossing its bridges makes the route more challenging, Brooklyn, Manhattan without forgetting the Queensboro Bridge, Verrazzano and closing with a swing to cross the finish line of the route through Central Park. You will never forget that experience as a runner,” said Yoira Rodríguez.

In the last edition, Yoira finished six Majors in Tokyo, while Franklin Castillo did it in London, thus with a pair of Majors from Panama.

Another who recently met that goal was Víctor Ortíz,

“My most accessible marathon that allows you to run fast because of the climate and the topography is the one in Berlin. It runs very well because the first part is mostly quite flat. The second part has small false plains and that’s why it’s a marathon of records. Besides, the city is spectacular, the game is very exciting and the hydration is fantastic.”

“The hardest for me is the Boston Marathon, because the terrain is varied, it starts downhill quickly, but the second half is complicated and from the 26th to the 34th kilometer you go up and you face 4 hard hills. The weather is very variable and that makes it very difficult,” Ortíz said.

Other Panamanian Majors are: Eduardo Arias, Francesco Borace, Marcela Cañas, Rodrigo Cardoze, Oscar Carrasquilla, Luis Huertas, Marlene Hurley, Joel López, Rodolfo López Lassonde.

For this edition, Destiny 2Sport is taking 30 runners to Berlin, and the list includes: Marian Angélica Salazar, Martha Salas, Jhasla Jhangimal, Jessica Correa, María Sequera, Nixa Real, Jennifer Castillo, Tatiana Arcia, Gaby Torres, Marlene Méndez, Cristina Ogando, Laura Boyd, María Figueroa, Jesús Saldaña, Emmanuel Carballeda, Wilson Bustamante, Aurelio García, Rodolfo López, Julian Lanuza, Benjamín Córdoba, Sergio Rodrígues, Marino Ramírez, Joel Rodríguez, Juan Carlos Muñoz, Oscar Terán, Federico Sorzano, Eligio Loo, Gabriel Cheng, Thierry Baurez and Víctor Ortíz Jr.
