Line 3 station platforms will have doors

The line 3 of the Panama Metro Not only will it be different because the trains will run on one track, but the platforms will also be different, as well as the energy capacity of the moving equipment.

The 24 trains and 144 wagons line 3 will differ from those on the first two lines, as they will only need one rail to travel 24.5 kilometers.

Carlos Cedeño, Head of Projects and Engineering of the Panama Metrohe explained that the trains have a pneumatic system, with wheels similar to those of a vehicle, which are attached to the beams.

They are produced in Japan and they should start arriving in the country by the first quarter.

As for platforms, it will have sliding doorswhich will open when the trains arrive at the stations.

On the first two lines, the contact between users and trains is directand there is also a painted yellow line that serves as a warning.

During times of high demand, it is common to see users crossing the yellow line, which is a risk, due to the speed with which the trains arrive at the station.’

the subway station will have line 3, located in Balboa.

in 2026

At the end of this year, the final tests for the delivery of the works, including the underground part, must be carried out.

Line 3 will run what exists in meters in other parts of the world, which are doors that open at the same time as train doors for greater safety.

Cedeño explained that this technology is applied because, since the train hugs the beam, the height on the platforms is higher than on the other two lines.

The line three will have 12 stationsfour different classes, but all will come with their door system included in the platforms.

battery powered trains

A problem that the first two subway lines did not bypass lack of electrical fluid.

This was stated by the director of Metro Projects production systems have not yet been usedbecause the frequency of these events did not increase.

However, as a new measure, will be a battery system.

In case of complete system failure, batteries allow trains to arrive at stations and it is not necessary to evacuate people in the middle of the road, as happened on some occasions on lines 1 and 2.

“There are battery systems that have a minimum duration to ensure an evacuation situationguaranteeing safety,” said the subway manager.

WITH part buried deeper than line 1it remains for the environment to know what would happen if the system were to be completely interrupted due to a lack of electricity.

In this sense, Cedeño indicated that there will be evacuation routes and there are regulations related to the issue of evacuation and unsafe conditions.

Yards and workshops

In the area where Line 3 trains will depart and arrive, which is located near the Ciudad del Futuro station, is observed progress in the workshop, where the cover will be installed.

Trains will be assembled at this location.a task that should begin in the first quarter of 2024.
