‘I’m sorry to disappoint you’: Celine Dion cancels European tour due to rare illness

The 55-year-old artist took a break from her career. Celine announced that she will not be able to complete the Courage tour of European cities, which she interrupted with the onset of the pandemic. The My Heart Will Go On singer has canceled all shows scheduled until April 2024.

Dion plans to devote his free time to his health. The five-time Grammy Award winner announced her serious diagnosis in December. Celine was diagnosed with “muscle stiffness syndrome” – a disease of the central nervous system that causes severe muscle spasms, fixes the body and makes it impossible for a person to walk and talk.

In February, the artist was preparing to go on stage for the first time since the lifting of the quarantine, but the illness forced her to postpone these plans until the summer of 2023. And today, the pop star decided to completely cancel the tour in 42 places in European cities. Dion is afraid he won’t have enough strength to perform.

“I’m sorry to disappoint you again. I tried hard to recover but touring can be very difficult even when you feel 100%. It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the show even though my heart is breaking. Better call it off now until I’m really ready to go on stage. I want you to know that I won’t give up… and I can’t wait to see you again,” Dion wrote.

Celine’s disease is rare and incurable. Modern medicine makes it possible to slow down the progression of the disease using some techniques. Patients can suffer seizures caused by loud noises, the Daily Mail reports.

In April, the singer put up for sale the house that remained after the death of her mother. The pop star plans to get 150 million rubles.
