The Prince and Princess of Wales visited Aberfan today to pay tribute to those who died in the October 1966 coal collapse. After visiting the memorial garden, the royal couple took time to mingle with local residents. During the walk, the Princess of Wales spoke to mother Lucy Williams, who was holding her one-year-old son Daniel in her arms.
When his mother spoke to the royal family, the child expressed interest in Kate’s miniature Mulberry handbag for 695 pounds (69,910 rubles). In a video that quickly went viral on the web, the child happily holds the accessory to his face. Moments later, Lucy, whose mother-in-law survived the disaster, tells her son, “Okay, let’s bring it back.”

However, the adorable boy was not ready to say goodbye to the bag and began to cry. Reassuring Lucy that there was no rush, Kate laughed and walked over to another citizen. At that moment, the woman tried to take the bag from Daniel. With Kate’s back to him, the child decided to let go of the bag and threw it over the railing.
Fortunately for Lucy, she anticipated her son’s actions and managed to grab the precious item at the last minute. The Welshwoman was relieved that Kate had returned her accessory. Williams explained how Middleton put her at ease in what could have been an awkward situation.

“I think she sympathized with how difficult it is for children. Kate said, “She can play with it, I’ll be back for it!”, like every other person on the street. Although this is typical of him. It’s a bit of a hurricane, I didn’t expect anything less!” Lucy told ITV News.
The royal couple arrived at the garden, which is located on the site of Pantglas School, which was tragically destroyed by a coal slide on 21 October 1966. The incident claimed the lives of 144 people, including 116 children. The couple were greeted by schoolchildren and survivor Gaynor Madgwick showed Kate some newspaper clippings from the royal family’s previous visits to the area. The princess dressed up for the occasion, opting for a long dark coat and replica Zara houndstooth dress, reports the Daily Mail.
