She survived bullying and alcoholism: what happened to chubby girl Juanita from Desperate Housewives

Madison De La Garza rose to fame at the age of seven when she played Eva Longoria’s on-screen daughter on the hit series Desperate Housewives. The girl was rather chubby then, and her character was constantly played up in the series – according to the plot, the characters often joked about Juanita’s difference from her exemplary mother.

The audience gossiped too – Madison got quite a shock when she read some comments on the internet about her appearance. And some went so far in their hatred that they even wished the girl dead. Madison was very concerned and then tried to starve herself for the first time. Her on-screen mother Eva Longoria tried to support the young actress. However, the matter was not without consequences for the girl’s psyche.

“Reading comments like this definitely affected my mental health and ultimately led me to develop an eating disorder at a very young age,” said De La Garza, who is Demi Lovato’s half-sister.

Later, he became addicted to alcohol. Madison was able to overcome her addiction when she realized it was affecting her relationships with her friends, and most importantly, her mother, who she called “everything to her.”

Today, Madison is 21 years old, and you don’t immediately recognize the funny Juanita in her. The actress has slimmed down, moreover, she likes to experiment with her appearance – for example, she dyes her hair in colorful colors.

Madison also continues to act in American TV series and short films, but now she is not at the peak of her career. But the girl is happy to share her experience of recovering from addiction with those who need it.
