They went to the temple and to the construction site: what was the fate of the Soviet actors of the same role

Even if there were more films in their filmography, we remember these actors only in one frame.

Fyodor Dunaevsky

Ivan in the movie “The Courier”

Fedor got to the cinema thanks to his classmate Anastasia Nemolyaeva, the daughter of cameraman Nikolai Nemolyaeva, who was currently working on the filming of The Courier. She took several pictures of her friends to the acting department of Mosfilm. There, Dunajevski’s portraits caught his attention, he was soon approved for the role by director Karen Shakhnazarov, and his “cinema” Nemolyaev also got the role.

After the collapse of the USSR, Dunaevsky emigrated to Israel, then returned to Moscow to receive a directing education at VGIK. But he really failed to realize it in the cinema – from time to time he was filmed and not in the main roles. The actor is still remembered for the role of Ivan.

Boris Bystrov

Aladdin in Aladdin’s Magic Lamp

The role in the fairy tale film was the debut for the 21-year-old Bystrov, who had just graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School, and immediately made him a movie star. A handsome man with alluring brown eyes captivated all the viewers of the Union. Soon, however, the actor’s appearance began to change rapidly – he got fat and was no longer suitable for the roles of handsome men. Bystrov began to shoot less often, and the roles themselves could not be compared to a bright debut. But the actor realized himself in dubbing: for example, Michael Caine speaks with his voice in The Dark Knight and Interstellar.

Alexander Mikhailov

Alexey Fedyashev in the movie “Formula of Love”

Ironically, the brightest role in the actor’s filmography was the last. His film career lasted only four years, and during this time he still managed to play Mikhail Lomonosov and Romeo in one film performance. When Mikhailov was 26 years old, he decided to leave the cinema and the stage and devote himself to the spiritual life – he got a job as a chorister in the temple, and then graduated from the Orthodox Humanities University of St. Tikhon.

Igor Ljak

Lenya in the movie “Love and the Dove”

The role was the debut for a graduate of the Higher Theater School. MS Shchepkina – and such a success! Vladimir Menshov’s comedy became a real popular hit, and the audience loved the characters like a family, so the actor opened all the prospects for a successful career. Lyakh really began to get roles, but these films passed, and then came the 90s, which were difficult for cinema. The actor focused on work in the theater, began to teach. He returned to cinemas only in the mid-2000s, but the time for leading roles had already passed – they only offered episodes, albeit in popular comedies such as New Year’s Fare and Christmas Trees 3. In 2018, Igor Lyakh died of a heart attack at the age of 55 .

Igor Krasavin

Patrick in Don’t Go Away…

It was the end of the 1980s, as usual he went down to the Minsk metro, 10th grade student Igor Krasavin did not think that his life would change dramatically. The high school student was noticed by the director Leonid Nechaev and immediately realized that he had found his hero. A romantic young man with delicate features and a modest smile, he seems to have been the perfect candidate to play the queen’s pupil.

After the release of the film, the directors began to compete over who calls Krasavina in their films, but Igor’s parents strongly opposed his film career. So, after filming with Nechaev, Krasavin returned to his native Minsk, entered the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute, and then began working in the construction industry. In 2009, the failed actor died after surgery for a ruptured aneurysm.
