Jennifer’s path to fame was not easy, which she repeatedly spoke frankly about in interviews. The future singer grew up in the Bronx, a poor area of New York, in the family of Puerto Ricans Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez.
However, Jennifer was passionate about dancing and dreamed of a career in show business. She auditioned and when she got her first role in My Girl, she was convinced she wanted to be a movie star.
When Jennifer told her mother she wanted to major in dance instead of college, they argued. After that, Jennifer left home and started living in a dance studio where she studied. She eventually landed a job in a professional dance production in Europe, and her career took off quickly from there.

“I slept on the couch in the dance studio. I was homeless, but I told my mom, “This is what I have to do. A few months later, I got a job in Europe. When I came back, I got a job as a dancer in the comedy project In Living Color, and she moved to Los Angeles . And it all happened in a year,” J. Lo recalled in a 2013 interview.
Any temporary difficulties can be overcome when there is a goal. Well, we don’t doubt Jennifer’s determination!
