You definitely won’t recognize Courteney Cox in this role she’s still embarrassed about (and it’s not a tampon ad)

You may have seen the archival tampon ad from 1985 starring Courteney Cox that went viral on the web a long time ago. But did you know that this role wasn’t Courtney’s first?

In 1984, the actress starred in Bruce Springsteen’s music video for the song Dancing In The Dark. Cox was cast as a fan of the singer whom he eventually invites to dance with him on stage during the performance.

The actress still remembers the audition with embarrassment. Courtney was only 20 years old at the time and felt awkward surrounded by celebrities (and the video was directed by Brian De Palma himself, who had already directed Scarface and Carrie).

At the casting, she had to dance and could barely move – a real nightmare!

Bruce Springsteen is incredible. I like this song. But still I’m a bit confused while watching the videos. Just look at my dance! It was a shame. I dance well, but it was terrible. I was so nervous. I felt out of my element. I couldn’t even bend my leg!” Cox recalled of her ordeal.

Ironically, it was this insecurity of the actress that fascinated the director – he realized that Courtney would ideally embody the image of a fan who had a chance to dance with an idol.

“I entered Brian De Palma’s office. He turned on the music and said, “Then dance.” And I thought, “Right now? Here? In front of you? Just the two of us?” I think that’s why I got the part, because they wanted to find a fan who just couldn’t believe her luck,” Cox said.

Well, you have to be able to turn your failures into victories – we take Courtney’s example. And of course we dance with her to a cool hit from the 80s. By the way, it seems to us that the actress is struggling in vain and coped with the role brilliantly. And what do you think?
