Lady Di’s evening dress was exhibited by Julien auction house. The most expensive lot was a red silk dress created by fashion designer Bruce Oldfield in the 1980s.
The mother of Princes Harry and William appeared in public in this dress three times: she wore the dress twice in 1989 and two years later – at the premiere of the film “Hot Shots” in London. The sale was expected for £160,000, but in the end the lot went for £458,000.

Next up was a dress by Catherine Walker. Lady Di appeared in this outfit in 1991 in Canada. The original price of the land was 80 thousand, but it was sold for 450.

The third outfit was a gorgeous black velvet dress, also designed by Catherine Walker. The asking price for this lot was £48k and the dress sold for £407.

“This record amount for the sale of Princess Diana’s dress exceeded all our expectations,” the Daily Mail quoted the auction house’s CEO Martin Nolan as saying.
Princess Diana donated this dress to charity two months before her death. The clothes were bought by American entrepreneur Ellen Peto in 1997. She spent the money she had saved on buying a house for them. Ellen’s widower has put the dress up for auction and plans to donate part of the proceeds to charity as well.
