Dutch Glory! The coolest Spyker C8 ever can be yours

To paraphrase that angry Jumbo employee: buy it! Because this Spyker C8 Spyder GT2-R is very cool. Forget Victor Muller’s castles in the air and the never-ending bankruptcy drama, this brutal race car is worth buying.

Because brutal, that’s exactly what the Spyker C8 Spyder GT2-R is. Between the driver and the rear wheels sits a loud thumping 3.8-liter Audi V8 mated to a Hewland sequential racing transmission.

Spyker C8 Spyder GT2-R quite successful

This is chassis number 046, which competed in ten events in 2005 and 2006, including the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 1000km of Spa.

Spyker Squadron is often laughed at in the Netherlands, as the short-lived Formula 1 adventure was nothing special indeed.

With the C8 Spyder GT2-R, however, Spyker was able to achieve some successes here and there. For example, this car finished second in its class at the Dubai 500km race and finished third at the Jarama circuit in Spain.

He competed against the Ferrari 360 GTC, the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, the TVR Tuscan T400R and the Panoz Esperante GTLM, among others.

Double 12-R initially with BMW V8

Incidentally, the Spyker C8 Spyder GT2-R replaced the unsuccessful C8 Double 12-R, which was introduced at the end of 2001 and was distinguished by its long tail, which initially housed a BMW V8.

C8 Laviolette GT2-R sixth place in the GT2 series

In 2008, the C8 Spyder GT2-R was followed by the closed-cab C8 Laviolette GT2-R. It went pretty well, eventually finishing sixth in the GT2 championship.

Auctioned on the eve of the 24 Hours of Le Mans

This Spyder will be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s on June 9th, the eve of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It is not yet known what the car will do, but it certainly won’t be cheap.
